Share the Music, the first music-related service club at ASB, works closely with Advitya and Happy Feet Home.
Advitya is an non-governmental organization that is a "creative center for the mentally challenged." Its mission is "to cultivate a culture of compassion and kindness in society with a promise of an undimmed future." The organization strives to create nurturing environments for its members, who are men and women of all ages. They are our friends, and their integration into society is essential in the world today. What Share the Music focuses on is the development of our friends' motor skills and speaking skills. Share the Music meets Advitya every Thursday after school, and with singing songs and playing instruments, Share the Music members have noticed a considerable growth in the articulation and coordination of the Advitya members. Songs include popular nursery rhymes and Indian folk songs. And the Advitya members love playing drums and tambourines while they sing.
With Happy Feet Home, the club works on Mondays to teach music to the kids with terminal illness. They are the happiest bunch of people you will ever meet!
No music experience is needed to join the club. It's open for anyone who loves music and making new friends!
